Career Accelerator OffersA Professional Boost

UW Continuum College announces new program for adult learners

We're re-engineering education for working adults through our new Career Accelerator program. The program boosts critical career knowledge for professionals, helping them achieve gains in the skill areas needed in today’s global workplace, such as data analytics, data science, machine learning, programming and project management. With the Career Accelerator program, we're tailoring our nationally recognized UW certificates in high-demand job areas, enabling learners to accelerate their careers.

“The Career Accelerator program puts people on the fast track to the job they want tomorrow or rounds out their skills to boost their confidence in the job they have today,” said Rovy Branon, vice provost of UW Continuum College. “Offering a program in four different formats gives our students more flexibility to earn a UW certificate when, where and how it’s most convenient for them.”

Starting this fall, Career Accelerator certificates will be available in the following four formats:

  • Self-Paced, Online: Students start anytime and work at their own pace with instructional support.
  • Accelerated, Classroom: Students complete a program in under two months in an immersive classroom-online blended format.
  • Group-Paced, Online: Students join a group of like-minded professionals online in a traditional part-time online format; courses last a quarter and certificate programs last five to nine months.
  • Part-Time, Classroom: Students attend classes one evening per week in a traditional part-time classroom format; courses last a quarter and certificate programs last five to nine months.

“For companies to convert raw data into useful information, their data scientists and analysts must be versed in the best approaches to turning statistical information into meaningful, actionable insights,” said Stephen Elston, UW Professional & Continuing Education instructor for data analytics and data science. “With the Career Accelerator program, we’re helping current and aspiring data professionals to do just that.”

An experienced data scientist, author and Microsoft Data Most Valued Professional — with a Ph.D. in geophysics from Princeton University — Elston is part of the design team at UW Continuum College focused on building quality, high-impact Career Accelerator certificate programs.

Registration dates for new formats will be announced in mid-July.
